There is perhaps no more loyal member of the family than the family dog. In fact, some people become so attached to their dog that they become one of their children, siblings or even their own. Of course, with all the enjoyment of owning a pet, there is also a bit of responsibility as well as some potential problems that could arise from time to time. That is why it is important for you to make sure that if you have a dog in the family, they are well trained and well behaved.
When you got your new dog, did you ask about his barking? I wouldn't think so. You go by the size of the dog first, then by the look and it seems to you, but I bet you never thought to ask yourself about barking.
Many can be up to your living situation. Do you have to go to work and leave the dog alone? This could cause separation anxiety in your dog.
Maybe the dog is just bored, which could be why he is barking to get some sort of reaction from someone, anyone would do that.
Even when a dog is scolded for barking, he doesn't distinguish himself with different types of attention. He probably doesn't care what you tell him, at least you're there and talking to him, that's all that matters.
That's not all that matters. He needs to learn that this is not the way to go on. He can't expect to just bark and everything will be his way.
You know how dogs usually bark at anyone who comes to the house, not family? Your dog usually barks at the mail, but when he was little, how did he start doing that? I think he did it once because he didn't know who it was and after that he thought the mail went away because of him. It will make him think that he can be responsible for getting rid of strange people.
One way or another, you need to let him know that the mailman is not a threat to his family. Naturally, you don't want to dampen his protective instincts. After all, in some cases, that's why people have dogs, especially if they have to leave their house unsupervised during the day.
If you had a remote control mechanism you could give him a little shock when the mailman came, of course you would have to be home to do that. If you are not home you should have an automatic shock bark deterrent that would simply recognize that he was barking and tell him not to, regardless of the reason or who he was barking at.
It's an unfortunate thing, but it seems that complaints about incessant dog barking to the police are the second most common report, only for alarms that go off.
If your barking dog is reported continuously, you may end up with some pretty expensive fines and it can be painful on the wallet. At the very least, it can lead to strained relationships between you and your neighbors that can be very uncomfortable and completely unnecessary.
You just need to solve this barking problem and maybe buy one of the anti barking collars on the market.
